Alternative Futures & Popular Protest

AFPP2021 logoThe upcoming 25th edition of Alternative Futures and Popular Protest will take place online from 7-9th June 2021. The final programme is now available here. Registration is now closed.

We’re delighted to say that we’ve accepted over 130 papers for presentation at what will surely be the biggest edition of AFPP to date. We have presenters from all continents and timezones spanning GMT+12 to GMT-8. This year we also have two exciting Plenary Roundtables scheduled:

  • Tues 8th June, 3.30-5.30pm: The Futures of Social Movement Research, with Kate Alexander, Diana Fu, Ali Kadivar, Neil Ketchley and Sidney Tarrow.
  • Weds 9th June, 5-7pm: Not Set in Stone: Remembering Empire and Contesting Statues, with Einass Bakhiet, Joanna Burch-Brown, Simukai Chigudu, Alastair Doggart and Gary Younge. This even is also open to the public, with registration via Eventbrite. We also intend to livestream this event via our YouTube channel.
