Alternative Futures and Popular Protest
Information for Delegates
We’re looking forward to welcoming delegates to Manchester soon for the 2024 edition of Alternative Futures and Popular Protest. We have another bumper crop of fascinating papers to look forward to. The essential information is as follows:
- The call for papers is now closed.
- Delegates should now have received a draft programme and details for registration by email from afpp@manchester.ac.uk on Monday 20th May. Registration is now open until Friday 7th June via Eventbrite. Non-presenting delegates are also very welcome to register.
- The conference programme runs from 1pm Monday 17th June until 12.30 pm Weds 19th June, to be followed by a lunch in a local pub. The conference will take place in the Humanities Bridgeford Street Building, just off Oxford Road at the University of Manchester. (map)
- Presenters who wish to share a paper ahead of the conference should do so by emailing it to afpp@manchester.ac.uk before 14th June. We will make these available to conference delegates via a shared dropbox folder.
- We will be organising three social meals. These are not included in the conference fee, so individual payments will be required direct to the restaurant. The meals will be: 7pm Monday evening (Rice Bowl, vegan banquet at £30.25 each), 5.15pm Tuesday evening (Sandbar, pizza menu, approx. £12 each), and 12.30pm Wednesday (The Old Abbey Taphouse, meals at £18 per head). If you’d like to come along and haven’t already signed up, please do so asap via this google form.
- There is an opportunity to join a radical history walk, led by Kerry Pimblott, during Session 5 on Tuesday afternoon. Numbers are limited so if you’d like to join please send a request to afpp@manchester.ac.uk. Further details are on the online programme.
